New Baby

On a whim, I placed an ordered Thursday afternoon at 3:30 pm. And my new baby arrived Friday at 1:00 pm:

SHHHHH. Don’t tell my Nikon.

I love my Nikon, and I’m still a Nikon girl at heart, but my D80 – while awesome, amazing, my REAL baby – is just BIG. It’s my big giant ‘professional’ camera that I protect like it actually is a child and would drop dead before I tossed it in my purse for a night out.

So I did some poking around here and there looking at small point and shoots. Testing out a few whenever I’d hit up a camera shop. That was months ago. Like at the beginning of the summer. And then for no good reason I chose 3:30 last Thursday to sign onto B & H and click order.

I’ve shoved that camera in pretty much everyone’s face that I came in contact with since it was delivered.

“Great. ANOTHER camera.”

Macro!

“Seriously.”

Shoes!

“I’m going to kick you.”

But features are FUN!

“This is what I think of you and your features.”

Whatever. Who needs you? Liz loves the camera.

So do grasshoppers!!

And this guy!

Sorry that was uncalled for. Who is that guy anyway?

Oh right. A karaoke regular.

Karaoke pics!!!

And the best part of this new camera? VIDEO.

Enjoy Hooker singing a TERRIBLE rendition of Lightning Crashes. Warning: he says the word “placenta” a lot. MMMmmmm placenta.

(For a fairly cheap point and shoot, this camera actually takes really great video. This particular one was filmed in a dark, seedy bar so it doesn’t look that great. But I figured you’d enjoy this one better than one of us driving through the streets of Boston…)

So I’ve been carrying this thing around literally 24/7 since I got it. And pretty much plan on doing just that forever and ever.

So lots of videos. And pics. And stranger’s nipples. Get into it.

I want to look into getting a little camera like that. The pictures you took with it look pretty good!

I do have a canon camera now but it’s a few years old now and oh how things have gotten smaller in the technology world. So it’s pretty much like I’m carrying a huge camera around with me.

This camera takes really great photos. Most of these pictures don’t really showcase that as I was going for more of a “funny ha-ha” blog instead of an “ooh-ahh” kind of blog.

I’ll post some of those photos in coming days. Actually for a camera of it’s size, I’m truly amazed by the quality of some of these – I even printed a few and they look even better!

I got it for $202.95 at B&H .. I just pulled the link and it went up a few dollar, but $205 is not bad (this camera is $249 at Best Buy)

Deal on B&H

Um. That’s a grasshopper, not a cricket. :)

Which is exactly what I meant. It’s been a long weekend. If only you knew the saddest part: we had an insect discussion grasshoppers, crickets, etc while I was taking that pic. Maybe that stuck in my head.

*cough* excuses! * cough*

Interesting..can you email or post the entire name…ect…I might need to get one like this since my Olympus seems to be frizzing out slowly…

Ulli – if you click on the link in my second comment, it will take you right to the product on B&H … I price checked ALL around, it was definitely the cheapest there!

what drives me crazy about the digital point and shoot that i have (which is, admittedly, 3+ years old) is the lag between when i press the button and when the pic gets snapped (using the flash, that is). is that something you’re gonna get with every point and shoot?

i love my old SLR, but it’s – gasp! – film, and i sure as shit can’t afford a D70 or anything. so i’m wondering if i’m just stuck with this issue.

Lag time on cameras is the worst. WORST. This camera definitely has LESS lag time than my first digital point and shoot (Nikon Coolpix 3200), but i think with any small point and shoot you’re going to get it. The manual setting has a continuous shooting option … that makes it a little better though :)

Great camera, Jenny! Kerri and I are thinking of buying the same exact one. I just have one question: is Liz fake-smoking a tampon in that picture?

10 Jenny 8.29.2007 at 8:46 am

Liz IS. haha.

I was going through my purse and found an unused open tampon. GROSS. Liz grabbed it and used it as her prop … then it got passed around the table.

My friends are weird. But totally awesome.

(You and Kerri will LOVE the camera – ps the macro is AWESOME.)

wow, that’s my camera! Well, “my” as in “my husband’s”, but still. I love it! And I love the macro mode, I use it a lot
