You're right, it's pretty comical. For example, my daughter who is 1 doesn't even flinch when a emergency vehicle of any sort screams by w/ sirens blaring. I looked around and tried to see if there was some sort of legitimate emergency going on, I couldn't see one, so I just headed down to the Red Line platform. No one came to kick us out and no announcements were made. A few years ago when I was stuck working at the mall for a while, the fire alarm went off at least once a week. Absolutely no one cared in the least, ever. This must be a New England/Boston thing. I encountered the alarms this morning as well.
