My father and I were donating all the coins that we collected in out Jimmy Fund canisters in the local Coinstar earlier today. Coinstar throws back any non-American coins … so we had a lovely collection of Canadian coins and one 2000 Dong from Vietnam. And then what looked like a penny shot through the return coin slot. But it wasn’t a penny. I picked it up, my dad asked “What is it?” and I replied “Uhhh…not sure. But oh. It has a …..swastika on it.”

We got home and our research (google.com) revealed that it’s a “Nazi Germany 1939 1 Reichspfennig Bronze World War 2 (WWII) Coin”.
It’s probably worth hardly anything but for these two World War II history buffs, it was a really great find and made for some fun researching.

Wow. I haven’t seen one of those ever.
Damn. I’ve never seen one either… but it’s funny how the front of the German Pfennig looked exactly like that until we switched to the Euro/Cents.
