Packing for Blogher: choosing the cocktail party dress edition

From left to right: black & white Marimekko by H&M, silk kimono by BCBG, black mini by BCBG, and purple silk bubble dress by Armani Exchange (I swear this one is cute even though it looks like a disheveled mess here!).

Right now I’m leaning toward … Shoot I just changed my mind.

Ok edit: the A|X is out because I can’t be bothered to take the time to steam the damn thing in SF. Even though the kimono is also silk, it’s still in the running because it is not hard to steam – straight lines! No bubble skirt! The rest are fair game. And yes I am well aware that it is chilly in SF at night. I am also from Boston, land of frigid winter temperatures. These legs are used to it and I love me any excuse to get a little fancy. And yes, I always overdress. HA.

BRING IT SF, BRING IT.

(Also, in case you all think I’m totally insane – I am bringing like 3 pairs of jeans and fun tops too. In addition to overdressing, I also like overpacking.)

I wasn’t aware I have to bring a cocktail dress… oh, but wait, I didn’t get a cocktail party ticket, so I won’t need one anyway….
I like the one on the left.

See you soon!

Oh thing to know about me #1: I am insane. And will always opt to overdress. People are probably wearing jeans and tshirts.

And I am SO SAD about the cocktail party ticket .. there has got to be some way around it.

I know, it kinda sucks. I already checked the website if there is a way to still get a ticket, but I guess we just have to wait and see if they’re “nice” and let me in.

The Friday night party is at a CLUB! I feel like they could NOT have filled it!! They’ve got to let people pay at the door!

Uh, really? Then I should bring a dress, too :)

From the Blogher website:

Friday, July 18
Welcome Cocktail Reception
6-9 p.m. @ Ruby Skye

BlogHer’s gettin’ flossy.

Ruby Skye is a hot-hot-hot club in the middle of Union Square. It also happens to be located directly behind the Westin, so it’s barely a block away from the hotel. (AKA “stumbling distance”. Ahem.)

Ruby Skye is a beautiful and funky venue, created from a converted theatre. Its lush colors and architectural details give the space a great ambiance even without 1,000 lovely bloggers chilling and milling about.

Not only will there be a signature cocktail and cool pro-green demos, but also a few television celebrities. (Details on who’s coming later!)

I’m a huge fan of overpacking.

The black mini is the hottest. =)

I also like overdressing. I like the black & white or the black mini.

I love both overpacking AND overdressing. I am deeply in love with the black and white one on the left. (Am also intrigued to know what shoes you will/would wear with it…I bet they are great!)

Jenny, I’m having the same dress dilemma (okay different dresses) but am having a difficult time deciding what to wear. Dressing for women is more stressful than dressing for men sometimes.

A friendly little bird (named John Wall) told me to be on the lookout for you, so consider yourself warned. I’m tall, goofy, and will have lots of Lijit swag to give away! Looking forward to meeting you…
