Over the weekend I went to Maine with a group of friends.The trip was fabulous and a ton of fun. Quite possibly the most relaxing fun I’ve had all summer. We did a whole lot of nothing – just lounging around a gorgeous lake:
Canoeing:
Sitting by a campfire:
Drinking tequila out of a Patron bottle:
Out of a Tommy Gun:
Out of a window:
And out of a giant glass mixed with deliciousness:
What can I say, we REALLY like tequila.
So that last drink we decided to call the Mainestay (GET IT!? MAINE? STAY? We’re MAINEIACS!) and here is how you make your own — because you will once you hear how delicious it is.
The Mainestay
Muddle some mint and fresh blueberries in the bottom of your favorite drink glass. Add some ice cubes, a shot (or two) of tequila (I like silver; Rena prefers reposado. You decide for yourself), fill almost to the top with lemonade, top off with soda water (I prefer grapefruit flavored), and some lime juice. Garnish with more more blueberries, a slice of lime and a spring of mint. Then ENJOY (and repeat as needed).
After a night of those, it may be necessary to start your morning with a Bloody Mary. And if you’re really smart like us, you make it a BACON Bloody Mary.

YES. bacon added to anything makes it better. i discovered a bar downtown that serves bacon martinis and i NEED to get my ass there immediately.

It looks like you guys had incredible weather for your stay in Maine! Although, I must say, you look fetching drinking that alcohol from a gun out a window!

Does it still have the dead cheerleaders in it?
Yes it does — but they’re testing methods on how to remove the dead cheerleader all around her parents beach …. so most of the cheerleaders are gone from the part we swim in.
There is BACON in that drink!
