Today’s Run

Oh hai. I’m now officially training for a road race this summer. (Officially meaning yes I have a number.) Which means lots of running. EXCITING. I have a personal running coach/trainer now — who happens to be my roommate who happens to be certified in group fitness and personal training. She made me a fancy training schedule. WOO. More on her in future updates.

Here’s the route I ran on my lunch break today. BECAUSE I KNOW YOU ALL CARE OH SO MUCH.

Today's Run

I have no idea exactly how long distance wise this run was. I got close on google maps though. It did take me 46 minutes from start to finish. It was the perfect temperature (56!) but windy as all hell.

Jenny! You can map it on http://www.mapmyrun.com for free. I’m addicted to it! I must always know exactly how far I ran! ;-)

that’s a long run! wow….inspiring too…

i’m failing that 15/mnth workout challenge. having a cold is a deterrent!

keep up the good work!

G-pedometer will tell you exactly how far it is – I map EVERY route I take! It’s great. And yay for Falmouth!

Try gmaps pedometer: http://www.gmap-pedometer.com/ Though map my run looks fancy too, I’ll have to check that one out!

Gmaps Ped is awesome. I CANNOT run outdoors without mapping. I MUST KNOW.

If you are on Facebook, you should try the Mich Ultra running app. I’ve used it a few times and it’s not bad.

i normally map mine out with google maps, but it’s not entirely accurate, b/c you can’t map routes off main streets. signed up for map my run tonight and i’m def gonna start using that one.

also: 46 minutes…i’m guessing that route was a good 4 miles? maybe pushing 5?

Hmm…right on Charles St, left on Pinkney, right on Louisburg Sq. Left on Mt. Vernon all the way to Bowdoin, then head down Park St and go around the Common back to work.

Then you can run by my house and both of my pretend sisters’ houses:-)

I will actually do that … I need to hit some hills in my training. Seeing as the first THREE MILES of the road race are all hills ;)

Another great site for tracking and mapping your runs is The Daily Mile (http://www.dailymile.com/). You can get a widget here: http://www.dailymile.com/?utm_medium=api&utm_source=training_widget

Oooh, fun!!! I’ll bet you’re actually racing too, like for time? I’m training for a marathon in June, but I just want to FINISH.

what i’m wondering – and have been wondering when i hear about “lunch break workouts” – how do you guys do it? how long are your lunch breaks? i mean do you just go back to work after the workout without a shower and all? cause even if i would be able to get a 30-60 minute workout in, there’s definitely no time to clean up afterward. so how do you do it? and sorry if that’s a stupid question…

PS: kinda like jewels on the 15/month workout thing. just that my cough apparently isn’t cold-related (any more) but allergic asthma so i have to work out that before i can start a regular workout routine…

That’s great! There’s a certain BHS faculty couple that runs that every year … would be hilarious if you found yourself running with them!
