So it’s been a little …. dead over here in AllEyesOnJenny Blog land. It’s not because nothing has been going on – actually exactly the opposite. In the past couple of weeks, work has been slammed, I moved from the place I had been living for the past four years, and I “officially” started training for the Falmouth Road Race in August.
I’m definitely not complaining, it’s been a wild ride and the next few weeks are going to be even more wild.
For those of you who care (or even care to follow along), I got myself a running coach for the whole “training” thing. I don’t know the first thing about the proper way to train, and won’t even pretend I do, hence the whole “getting someone to tell me exactly what to do and why” thing.
She emailed me my schedule for the next seven weeks (which I promptly threw into Illustrator and redesigned – NERD ALERT). I now have one hanging on my wall at home, one in my gym bag and one hanging in my office …
I CAN’T ESCAPE. Or pretend I don’t know what I’m supposed to be doing.
If you want to join me in my 7 weeks of training hell, feel free. (Aw look there, today = “R” whichs = “Rest” so today is a happy day!)
(Click the picture for a bigger version, or if you want to print it out for yourself, click here for the ridiculously huge version.)
Please note: this training schedule is based on my height, my weight, and an evaluation of my work out routine prior to starting. It was not made for you, your height, your weight, and did you see my running coach evaluate you? No. So if you try this out and go and break your leg or pull a muscle, file that under “things that aren’t my fault”.

I will not be joining you on this running adventure. My toe is still broken and I’m now decidedly 6 weeks behind on my own workout schedule, sad but true. But I’m cheering you on! Go Jenny Go!
YAY! I’m so excited for you!! Keep me posted on how you’re feeling and stuff! Good luck Jay!
Megs do you like what a design dork I am?? haha
Some unsolicited advice – that I’m sure you were hoping for :) You’ve got the miles but make sure you do the weekend long runs around 11am if possible, the heat can be more of a killer than the distance at Falmouth. I learned that one year where it was over 90 and my face melted off on the human BBQ at mile 4.
The course is actually closer to 7.1 miles than 7 so be ready for that. The only thing sorrier than not knowing about the last tenth are the people who think it’s a 10k.
Smile when you see the painted stripes in the road, that’s where you get your picture taken.
It’s great, you are going to love it.
Thanks John! On most of the hot days we’ve had so far (NOT MANY), I’ve actually made myself go out and run, just to get in some practice.
And I mapped the course — I got 7.3 miles! So I was totally prepared :)
I’m psyched. BRING IT ON – heat, hills and all :) haha
new place looks so nice!
