Dinkstock 2: Get Real. Again.

Last February I was lucky enough to play a part in an event my friends and I named “Dinkstock“. Due to the insane outpouring of generosity, over the course of 10 hours, we managed to raise over $7,000 for one of my best friends Danielle aka Dink (we raised it to help with THIS).

Several months have passed. Three ambiguous cancer diagnosis are behind us. Despite the fact that “Leukemia” was on the table for a short amount of time and “Lymphoma” was what we thought we were dealing with, “Lupus” is the final answer. The time between January 2008 and spring of this year was definitely the hardest thing I’ve had to face in my adult life. And I know I can say the same for a lot of my friends and OF COURSE for Danielle.

But we learned you don’t always have to feel hopeless. You can rally your friends, your colleagues, your twitter contacts, your blog readers and get together and do something great.

We want to do it again. For a cause that affects so many and we know first hand how emotionally/physically draining the diagnosis, treatments, waiting, testing, etc can be. So we’re back. This time HAPPILY not for Dink, but to raise money for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

I’m officially announcing Dinkstock 2.

It’s so nice to see someone doing good. Alas I live too far away or would love to come :(

I second what Jessica said. My dad has multiple myeloma and I fully support that society.
