At least all this art/photography stuff I’ve been foolishly navigating around night after night in my living room has to go. It’s driving me crazy, and I’m sure it’s driving my roommates crazy. So, until I have an office of my own (hopefully in the next few months), this stuff is out of here.

So as a part of Operation Save Jenny’s Living Room, I present you a bunch of pieces up for sale. In an effort to actually get this stuff out of my living room, I cut the prices from what I posted at my show. My ‘art manager’, as it were, is going to kill me when he sees what I’m pricing these at, but I don’t care. In fact, if you see something you really like, any reasonable offer will be considered. AND (if you live in the Boston area), I’ll even offer to drop off/meet you with a piece this weekend (otherwise, I’ll let you know what shipping costs).

Is it a bubble? Is it metal? Is it an alien head? Buy this print and play with your friends.

6 x 9 print in an 16 x 20 Neilsen Bainbridge black metal frame, matted with 100% archival, museum quality rag and treated to protect the work from pollution damage and acid degradation. Basically, these frames have super powers and your print will survive anything. – $65

Bowling? On a spaceship? Crazy! Or BEST IDEA EVER.

6 x 9 print in an 16 x 20 Neilsen Bainbridge black metal frame, matted with 100% archival, museum quality rag and treated to protect the work from pollution damage and acid degradation. – $65

Landlord won’t let you graffiti the walls in your bathroom? LOSER! Buy this print, use your imagintation, and pretend you’re peeing in style.

8 x 10 print in an 16 x 20 Neilsen Bainbridge black metal frame, matted with 100% archival, museum quality rag and treated to protect the work from pollution damage and acid degradation. – $85

Why would you want a super creepy, self-righteous baby head hanging on your wall? WRONG QUESTION! Why WOULDN’T you?

8 x 10 print in an 16 x 20 Neilsen Bainbridge black metal frame, matted with 100% archival, museum quality rag and treated to protect the work from pollution damage and acid degradation. – $85

Next one can be purchased individually or cheaper as a set. They look really cool evenly spaced and hung up in a row. JUST SAYIN’.

Why! It’s Jackie O! Add some class with a side of creepy to your house.

5 x 5 prints in 11 x 14 Neilsen Bainbridge black metal frames, matted with 100% archival, museum quality rag and treated to protect the work from pollution damage and acid degradation. – $45 each, $175 for the set of 4 – WHOA.

The following 2 were NOT in my show and are 8 x 10 prints framed in classy 14 x 18 wood frames – your choice black or walnut.

(Note: These are really crappy examples, if you’re interested in this photograph and want to see a larger version, don’t hesistate to email me: jenny @ alleyesonjenny . com)

BOSTON! In the fall! All the leaves are pretty colors and match the Back Bay buildings! All kidding aside, this is a really pretty photo if you’re in the market for a framed photograph of the city. Also, almost everything I hang in my home, I frame in flat black, but I got to say this one framed in walnut is absolutely gorgeous – the frame picks up on the autumn colors. – $50

A while ago my mom and her friends were sitting around talking about what they do with all the old greeting cards the get. These crafty ladies frame the good ones and decorate with them! One day I showed the gaggle of them an assortment of greeting card sized Boston photos I took over the years, and they remarked how pretty it would be to frame them. So that’s what my mom did: framed about 10 of them and gave them to her gals as gifts! Then I got a request from some of the other gals for packs of prints for THEM to frame and give out.

And now, you can do it.

Buy a pack and a few frames from TJ Maxx or Marshalls or Target and you’ve got a nice little gift for very little cost! – pack of 5 different unframed Boston 4 x 6 photographs – $8

If you’re interested in any of the above pieces or want to make me an offer that I probably won’t refuse, email me: jenny @ alleyesonjenny . com (Take out the spaces if you copy and paste this. I don’t like spam.)

And finally just for kicks, here’s a photograph of my very first painting ever.

Vector-y!

It’s been a long, wonderful few days. I took a much needed, unannounced hiatus for most of this week to celebrate my birthday and Christmas with friends.

Saturday I slept in (until 8:00 am!), hung around my apartment and watched a bunch of movies. Around 3:00 I headed down to the Quincy Compound to gather the troops and go to the annual Kiley Family Holiday Party. My friend Kiley pretty much has the coolest family in the world and a few times a year they throw these extravagant parties (Mexican Cookout in the summer, Octoberfest in .. October, and Holiday Party). Each party has more food than anyone could ever eat and more booze than anyone could ever drink. So we celebrated with their 50 closest friends and family for a few hours and headed back to the Quincy house where those kids had a little treat in store for me.

Hooker had been a big sneak while we were at the Kiley party and gone out and bought all this stuff for a ridiculous birthday dinner.

Chicken and rock shrimp in some … wine/cream/shrimp sauce. It was so friggin good.

… and HITACHINO NEST BEER. OMG. This is my favorite beer in the world. Mostly because it has a ridiculously cute owl on the bottle, but also because it tastes good. And I got SIX of ‘em.

So we all hung out:

Hooker.

Anthony and Desiree.

Keith. (honorary roommate in town for the week)

and Sophie.

Then when the clock struck midnight – the actual beginning of my birthday – I got an extra special treat. From Keith.

He came into the room wearing only green boxers and stockings on his feet singing “If you like Pina Colandas!”

The next day I spent first at my Dad’s for my annual birthday lunch of lobster and strawberry shortcake, then to my Mom’s to celebrate Christmas with our neighbors and THEN to birthday karaoke with the usual suspects.

Christmas day I lounged around my mother’s drinking a lot of coffee and then later that afternoon headed back to my dad’s for Christmas with him, his wife, my mom, my sister, my uncle and grandparents. Phew.

I actually took yesterday and today off from work … hence the no blogging. I probably should have taken today off from blogging too, but at least I had a few pictures to put up.

And the reason for so few photographs? My brand new amazing flash? Just stopped working on Christmas Eve. New batteries? Nothing. Another set of new batteries? Nothing. Happy birthday to me. I gotta go get on the phone with the company who sold it to me. This should be fun.

This weekend (a four day!) was incredibly busy. It started with Thanksgiving, a small lovely holiday celebrated with my mother and sister. My favorite part was when my mom managed to cover the front wall of our kitchen with gravy. (My mother tends to get … stressed out on holidays. Even if it’s just me and my sister. And somehow some food always ends up on the walls or the floor.)

That night I needed to unwind, so I headed over to Quincy to see my boys Anthony, Hooker, Ted and Skip. They taught me poker, convinced me to throw in money and have a game of it. So I did what any girl in that situation would do: I kicked their asses and took their money.

After poker we headed over to continue drinking and do some karaoke. I remember very little of the rest of the night. What I do remember? Singing the uplifting Pat Benetar classic “Hell is for Children” followed by a classy duet with Hooker to Justin Timberlake’s Rock Your Body. Apparently he changed all the words and sang something rather filthy. And apparently I stopped mid-song to tell him that I hated him.

The night really hit its peak when our friend Dale? Dean? Don? (he’s not really my friend) fell out of his chair and spilled every beverage on our table when doing so. Or maybe it hit its peak when I yelled at our cab driver.

I’ll let you decide that.

Friday I woke up with a terrible hangover and nursed it with a greasy breakfast from our favorite local diner. That night I had to pull myself together because I was hired to photograph a 50th Anniversary Party. This party? No joke. It was nicer than most weddings I’ve been to.

Immediately following that party, I headed back to Quincy for a bachelorette party where we celebrated Tina’s last night out with a Rod Stewart impersonator. Still unable to even entertain the idea of drinking I entertained myself by yelling at random dudes to show Tina their balls. I had no idea there would be so many willing participants in that game. One dude who wouldn’t show them explained it’s because he “has an anaconda in my pants”. Thanks buddy.

And since I’m keeping it so very classy here, I may as well tell you what I did on Saturday night for Anthony’s birthday.

Me and the gang got all gussied up.

And, per Ant’s request, went to a strip club. In Brockton.

JAZZ HANDS!

Out of the 15 or so of us who went, only 4 of us had never been. Two things I should have done: Actually brought my glasses. I can’t see clearly past an arm’s length and the blur of people and skin everywhere is ridiculously overwhelming and frightening anyway, but especially if you can’t see a damn thing (or maybe it was just that we were in Brockton). And I should have never went to the ladies room because when those girls are getting ready they have the most depressing conversations ever. Like lack of health insurance, having to lose weight because costumes are getting too tight, but it doesn’t really matter because they don’t stay on for long anyway.

Oh god. I’m reliving all that depressing stuff all over again.

Sunday I spent babysitting Dahlia so that her parents could move into their new house. She is like a CHILD now. She walks, talks and doesn’t want you to put her in her car seat. Ever. And god forbid you try and get her to nap. You might as well go murder someone because that’s the sound she made when I suggested it.

Other than that, she was super sweet and I died when she said my name (which was more of a “Juh! Juh!” – but whatever, I’ll take it).

So there you have it, now you’re all caught up and I’m sure you’re happy you know my feelings on poker (love), Hooker (hate), strip clubs (strong dislike), and Dahlia (too old).

Happy Cyber-Monday everyone. Enjoy both your online holiday shopping and spending that holiday bonus you don’t know if you’re getting, haven’t recieved yet, but sure as hell act like you have.

I knew I was going to be in the area so I agreed.

And I’m glad I did.

Because. Hello.

The whole band? Ridiculously cute. I mean seriously. Also, Ben if you are reading this (which you probably are because I was real smart and gave you my business card and I hate when I do that because then I can’t really blog about stuff) – anyway. I’m sorry I’m such a creep.

Creep or not, we all went out for a night of drinking and karaoke post studio. It was a good time and those boys really know how to work a crowd.

Anyway, you can enjoy the whole set of studio pics here.

This weekend Sarah and I tried our luck with craft fairing. Our luck, well, it turns out our luck was not that good. But the fair was set up weird and revolved around a raffle. And we all know that people, when given the chance of buying something or winning something for free, will always wait around to see if they got the free stuff, thus we (and all the other vendors) made very little money.

But we’ve looked into more fairs, sans raffles, for December.

We did make some friends. And learned way more about people than ever needed. Like when my mom stopped by our table to chat us up, some woman came over and starting chatting her up. They were talking about how they have matching breast cancer bracelets. And somehow, through the natural course of conversation, they started talking about colonoscopies. Obviously. The woman said she was not interested in watching hers performed because (AND I QUOTE) “Once you’ve seen one orifice in your body, you’ve seen them all.”

Apparently this woman is friendly with mirrors. And her own body.

Happy monday everyone!

In other news, I am all set up with my holiday cards and if you want, you can have your VERY OWN.

I think that you should buy them. Here’s why:

1) Mom’s and Grandmother’s think they’re “oohh, very beautiful”. Dad’s think they’re “neat”. At least in my family.

2) There are 15 cards and matching envelopes in a pack. Send them to your friends! Your family! That weird roommate you had in college who always smelled like cheese! (or maybe that was just mine…)

3) They were printed with environmentally friendly soy and vegetable inks! YAY!

4) Why go to a crowded store during the holiday season (gross) when you can buy online and have them delivered to your doorstep (YES!)?

5) Your purchase is, in part, a charitable donation (because I never shut up about how much I love The Jimmy Fund I am donating 10% of what I make in online sales as a gift to the Jimmy Fund at the end of the year.)

They are $20 for a box (for those of you lacking in the math department, that’s only $1.33 per card. My calculator told me so.) BUT that gets you 15 cards, free shipping, and you can feel good about the whole charity thing.

I am selling single cards too if you can’t commit to the whole box. $2.50 a pop. Same deal.

Also, since the holiday season is upon us and Fussy has another person donating a 12 x 18 framed print for NaBloPoMo, I’ll let the random winner of my prize choose either the 12 x 18 print I already said I’d donate as a prize OR instead the lucky winner can have TWO boxes of my holiday cards so that they can spread the holiday cheer to 30 friends and family.

Check ‘em out and buy ‘em here.

The past few days Billy Joel has been haunting me. It’s true.

Years ago, when I worked in the music section of Barnes & Noble, I bought my dad a 4 CD greatest hits Billy Joel package. I uploaded it to my iTunes last week. And since then Billy Joel everywhere: on the radio, some guy singing My Life on the elevator, Adam G called me (and Sarah) “an uptown girl in a downtown world”, last night at the bar all Billy Joel, today at the craft fair Piano Man on repeat, and right now New York State of Mind on Sex & The City.

I’m not complaining, I just think maybe I never noticed his omnipotence or something.

Whatever. This entry sucks so I’m just stopping. I have nothing to blog about today. Well that’s a lie – I have plenty to blog about – it’s just not weekend material. It’s Monday morning material.

Also, I got an email from those RumorGirls. Last weekend, Hooker and I ran into Frank and Karla at Match. The two of us were mentioned (and er uh … speculated about – haha) in RumorGirls Uncut 41. Frank, we didn’t call because we already had plans for the evening that involved fun things like making prints of paintings (WHOA. Super cool kids over here.) BUT I still have your number and I’ll email you guys mine in case you’re down this way again. We must get together again … and maybe even check out another establishment in Boston.
