Today I was rear-ended (I was stopped at a red light. The person behind me apparently didn’t feel like stopping. I’m fine, it’s fine.). Then I had to run around my office/the city like a maniac to make a certain project HAPPEN. Then I had to cab it to my other office to make a meeting (that seemed to last forever and was in a FREEZING, and I mean FREEZING conference room) … and that brings us to now.
I am drawing a blogging blank. So instead of boring you with statements like “What’s with the AC?!” or “This weather. UGH.” or “My car. WAAHHHH.”, I’ll leave you with a photo I stole from Miss Fabulous from this weekend. It is what I would like to be doing now. And probably what I will be doing in … oh 45 minutes.

Don’t we look like two little devils. RAWR.
Also before I go - details are coming together for Boston Blogtoberfest ‘08. I’m going to check out some venues and hit up some sponsors this week. If you are a company or an individual who is interested in sponsoring, please shoot me an email: jenny@alleyesonjenny.com!

How about I just invent a new word and leave it “parannoyed”. Charity is good. The End. ;)

Recently I had a guy tell me that he knew more about me than I think … when really all he did was successfully type my name into Google.
Yesterday Hooker told me about a troubled ex-coworker who recently tracked him down via his art portfolio. (Who said site optimization is always a good thing? Ha.)
Earlier in the week, someone I haven’t talked to practically since high school contacted me through Facebook to retell a funny story from our past.
Two weeks ago at an awards dinner I recognized an award recipient as one of my Twitter contacts.
On more than one occasion, I’ve gone out for a lunch break and returned back to my desk to an email that says “Oh hi. I just saw you in Downtown Crossing.” (PS, if you do see me out and about, it is FAR less creepy to actually come up to me and introduce yourself then for me to get THAT email 20 minutes later).
Having your life online and being able to track down (or be tracked down) has it’s ups and downs.
One of the best things that’s been a direct result of my “life online”:
Developing an entirely new network of friends and colleagues. I think pulling together Blogtoberfest really kicked this off for me. I never knew I’d get such a great group of friends out of it. (And even better? Though it all started in Boston for me, now I have friends all over the country entirely due to blogging - even stayed with a couple.)
One of the creepiest things that’s been a direct result of my “life online”:
Last week a guy asked me out on a date by listing a number of great things we could do (which, thanks to the help of one Miss Sarah, I quickly discovered was actually my list of “likes” on Myspace. Not inspired by, not ideas borrowed from … he read the god damn list off one by one. Eeesh.)
Your turn: best and worst parts of your life online.

Last night after work I was Somerville bound to attend a lovely party in honor of The Tasty Show’s 5th anniversary. (The Tasty Show is Dana Zemack’s project - you may remember her as the chocolate girl from Blogtoberfest. Someday I promise we will host a party for all of you. We talk about it all the time still.)
Dana’s Tasty Show event was at Grand in Union Square. I have to be honest, I googled this place SO much prior to the event and I could not find them online. I got the URL from the tags on the clothing I was admiring … which is a shame because this store/space is worth knowing about and visiting. (Go get optimized guys!) They opened in January and sell an assortment of clothing, pillows, cards, dinnerware, etc. They are amazing and closed down shop for this private event.
The event was a tasting of a variety of tasty things (of course!). Things that were paired up for optimum deliciousness: cupcakes and beer and also cheese and beer. (Cupcakes from Kickass Cupcakes in Davis Square - and they truly WERE kickass, beer from Mercury Brewing Company in Ipswich, MA, and cheese from Shy Brothers Farm in Westport Point, MA.)
Who knew cupcakes and beer would be so tasty?! And typically you hear of “cheese and WINE” - but again - cheese and beer! Who knew!? Well, Dana of course. That girl is a taste master.
There was a lovely mix of people at the event and I think I speak for everyone in saying that Dana did an amazing job putting the whole thing together.
And now without further adieu here are some awesomely BLURRY photos (I didn’t want to blind people with the crappy flash of my SD1000, so now you have to suffer the consequence).

After a day of flying then painting I dragged Hooker along for the ride:

Cheese from Shy Brothers Farm:

And a really poor picture of Grand:

Thank you and CONGRATS Dana!

So remember that ‘lil event I threw last week? And how I got some very generous sponsors to donate some really great prizes …. like oh a $100 gift certificate for shoes and other great stuff that I wanted to win, um, all of. Except it was my event and it wouldn’t exactly be ethical if I put my name in?
Well last week, before the event. Before the prize drawing that I wasn’t even eligible for in the first place, I went a little Shoebuy.com nuts.
And by nuts I simply mean bought two pairs of positively adorable boots: one for wearing to work (and other places) and one for walking to work (and other places).
You see, last year (and pretty much every year before that), during the winter months, I would wear sneakers to walk my mile trek to the train. Sneakers. In Boston. In the winter.
I never claimed to be smart (or to be able to feel my feet ever either).
Also last year (and for a several years prior to last) I had an unwaivering love affair with pointy-toed, stiletto heeled shoes and boots. My love for these shoes was so great, that I wore them all the time, every where and with every thing. which also meant that most of the time, I was walking around on a stub of a heel with the nail exposed.
It was time for new boots. And new boots I got. My new winter boots, a cute pair of black Sportos are warm! Are comfortable! Are skidproof! Are insulated! And best of all - Have POM POMs!
My new other boots, a fashionable, knee high boot, are chic! Are comfortable! Are roundish-pointy toe! Have only a 2.25″ heel! (This smaller than a 3″ heel thing is so very new to me. I wasn’t sure if I’d like it -but alas! I do!)
Behold all the new boot beauty!

DELICIOUS.
I ordered on Wednesday and both pairs of boots showed up at my house by Friday. Talk about speedy delivery. So even if you didn’t win the gift certificate last Thursday (we’re all giving Mysterious Brian the evil eye), I still recommend checking out Shoebuy.com. They’re cheap and fast. (Cue “yo momma” jokes.)
